Spent 45 minutes chasing a 0.002 inch offset on a Haas VF-2 last Tuesday

Turns out it was a dull indicator tip. Swapped it out and everything read dead nuts. Felt like a dummy standing there for almost an hour over a $6 part. Anyone else ever waste half a shift on something that dumb?

Yeah, I see what Drew said about swapping batteries and tips together, and that's a good habit in a lot of cases. But just a heads up, some indicator tips are actually matched to the body and swapping them can throw off your zero even more if they're not from the same set. So your mileage may vary on that one, @drew_palmer83, it really depends on what brand you're running.

Swap the tip and the batteries at the same time whenever you pull an indicator out of the drawer, it'll save you a headache down the road. Learned that one the hard way myself.
