That time I tried running coolant at 60 psi instead of 40

I was having trouble clearing chips on a deep pocket job in some 4140, so I cranked the coolant pressure up to 60 psi on a hunch. It turned the whole area into a mist cloud, soaked my shirt in about 10 seconds, and did almost nothing better for chip evacuation. Learned that higher pressure just atomizes the coolant if your nozzle setup can't handle it, so now I match pressure to nozzle size first. Anyone else ever fight with misting issues when you bump up the pressure?

Buddy of mine did the exact same thing on his Haas. Turned it up to 80 psi and by the end of the shift he looked like he went swimming with his clothes on. Said the coolant mist got EVERYWHERE, even in his lunch bag.

Wonder what it does to the machine's seals long term. That's a lot of pressure for the spindle and way covers to handle.
