The old paper tape method drove me insane for 2 years

I used to set my tool offsets by writing them on a sticky note and typing each one in by hand. Every single setup took me 45 minutes just for that part. Then last winter I finally started using the spindle probe to set my offsets automatically. It took me a whole Saturday to learn the macro but now a full setup takes me under 10 minutes. The probe paid for itself in like 3 weeks just from the time I saved. My lead called the probe a crutch but I call it not screwing up a part at 2am. Has anyone else dealt with old timers hating on the probe setup? How do you handle that pushback when the math clearly works?

Three years ago I would've called the probe a waste of money too, but after one night shift where I crashed a $400 endmill because I fat-fingered a zero, I flipped completely. Now I tell the old guys they can keep their sticky notes, I'll take the 35 minutes back.
