My buddy Tom once tried to swap out a power supply without unplugging anything first. He was in a hurry to get his rig running before a LAN party, so he just reached in and started yanking cables. There was this loud POP sound and a flash of light, and his whole room went dark for a second. He said the PSU just let out all its magic smoke, and the smell was awful for days. The worst part was he fried his motherboard too, so that $80 PSU replacement turned into a $300 mistake real quick. He still gets roasted for it every time we talk shop.

and honestly that's nothing compared to the time i tried to install a new GPU while my PC was still plugged in lmao. i was so excited i just yanked the old one out without turning anything off, and i swear i saw a tiny spark. the card never worked the same after that, but the worst part was me trying to blame the manufacturer before realizing i'm just an idiot lol. my buddy still brings it up every time we build a new system together, and i just have to sit there and take it. at least you can say you were trying to do things right, i was just being a dumbass with zero patience haha.

Isn't a spark just the PC's way of saying "maybe think twice before doing that"?
