Vent: My old shop in Dayton used to scrap parts from chatter on deep pockets.
I was running a 3/8 end mill in 6061, pocket was 2 inches deep. Tried a 10% stepover and a peck cycle, still got that nasty ringing. Slowed the feed to 15 IPM and it cut clean. Anyone else have a go-to trick for chatter on deep aluminum work?

Slowing the feed is just treating the symptom. Your tool was probably hanging out too far, that's the real problem. A stubby end mill would have run at full rate without a peck cycle.

Wait, you're saying a stubby end mill would have just plowed through at full feed? That's wild. I've snapped so many short tools trying to be aggressive. Last time I tried that in aluminum, it sounded like a gunshot and left a crater. You must have your setup locked down way tighter than mine.
