A senior dev told me to stop reading code line by line, it was a wake up call

Last Tuesday I was pair debugging a simple React form with a guy who's been coding for 15 years. I kept tracing each line in my head and he just pointed at the function name and said 'what does this look like it does?' Made me realize I was treating every file like a book instead of a map. Now I try to skim the big pieces first, then zoom in on just the part that's broken. Anyone else get stuck in the line by line trap when they're starting out?
