Can we talk about VS Code extensions? I think I broke something

I installed about 15 extensions for Python last week and now my editor takes forever to open. It just hangs there for 30 seconds every time I start it. Anyone know which extensions are actually essential for a beginner like me?

Heard a dev on a podcast say that Python extension pack and Pylance are really the only must-haves for beginners, everything else is extra. The bracket colorizer and auto save are nice, but they can slow things down if your computer is older. Maybe try disabling everything except those two and see if it starts faster?

Is your computer on the older side? I've seen a lot of people go crazy with extensions and then wonder why their machine crawls. For a beginner, I'd say start with just the Python extension and Pylance, like someone said. You can always add more later when you know what you actually need. Disable everything else and see if that 30 second wait goes away.
