Just realized my biggest coding mistake was not using version control from day one

I spent 3 WEEKS building a simple calculator app in Python and lost everything when my laptop crashed. I felt so dumb when a friend told me about git, now I commit every single change. Has anyone else lost work before they learned this the hard way?

Oh yeah, three weeks on a calculator is rough but git's not the only version control out there lol.
