My buddy who's been coding for 10 years told me to skip tutorials and just build stuff
Spent 3 months on Python tutorials and felt lost until he sat me down and made me clone a to-do app from scratch in one night. Has anyone else found that jumping into a project taught them more than hours of videos?

Is it just me or does that "one intense night" stick with you way more than three months of tutorials? @abby_king22 nailed it - I learned JavaScript the same way when a buddy handed me a broken weather app and said "fix this." Spent all night staring at code, breaking it on purpose, and figuring out what each line actually did. Tutorials let you zone out, but a broken project forces you to think. I still remember stupid jQuery stuff from that night better than any course I've paid for since.
