My first coding project went up in flames after 3 days of work
I decided to build a simple calculator app as my first real coding project. Spent 3 days straight watching YouTube tutorials and typing out code. Finally got it running late Tuesday night, felt like a GENIUS. Then I accidentally deleted the entire project folder while trying to clean up my desktop. No backups, no version control, nothing. I just sat there staring at the empty folder for a solid 5 minutes. My boyfriend came in and asked why I looked like I saw a ghost. Has anyone else ever lost a whole project because of one stupid mistake?

Used to think backups were overkill but now I'm a paranoid backup machine.

Hmm, I actually went the other way on this. I lost a whole folder of old family photos once (like 2008 era, grainy digital camera stuff) and it stung for a while, but it also made me realize I was hoarding junk. Now I keep maybe 3 things backed up: my tax documents, my current work files, and like one specific folder of vacation pics. Everything else I just let go. If my computer died tomorrow I'd lose my music library and honestly? I'd be fine. Not everyone needs to be paranoid about it if you're not running a business or something.
