My neighbor's kid saw my first working Python script and called it 'magic'
I was on my porch last Thursday trying to get a simple script to print 'Hello, world' ten times, and after three tries it finally ran without an error. The 10-year-old from next door was watching and just said, 'Whoa, you made the computer do that? That's like magic.' Has anyone else had a simple comment from a non-coder make you feel like you're actually getting somewhere?

Remember when that stuff felt like magic to you? My nephew said the same thing about a basic HTML page and it snapped me right back to being a kid. Those moments are a good gut check on your progress.

Watch a kid get excited over a blinking cursor. It makes you realize how jaded you've become about the whole thing. We should bottle that feeling and sell it to burnt out devs.
