Paid $95 for a Udemy course, ended up learning more from a free YouTube video
Back in March I finally decided to learn Python and bought this highly rated beginner course during a sale. The instructor spent two whole hours on installing the software and explaining his life story, I nearly fell asleep. Then my cousin sent me a 45 minute YouTube tutorial by some random guy named Ben, and suddenly loops and functions made sense. That course did have one good section on debugging that Ben's video skipped, so I guess it wasn't a total loss. But now I feel like I should have just started with free resources and only paid if I got stuck. Has anyone else burned cash on a course that a free video did better? What's your rule for deciding when to actually pay for learning materials?
