Rant: I typed = instead of == in my first Python class and spent 2 hours blaming my laptop
I was sitting in the back row of a Tuesday night intro Python class in Denver last month, and my little guessing game script kept printing "you win" even when I typed the wrong number. After two hours of restarting the editor and googling whether my laptop had a bug, the teacher walked over, pointed at my single equals sign, and switched it to double in like one second. How are you supposed to know stuff like that when nothing in the lesson ever told you the difference between setting a variable and comparing two of them?
Waited two hours on a single equals sign? That is painful. The worst part is that Python will happily let you write `if x = 5:` in some other languages and then just blow up, but here it quietly ran and lied to you the whole time. I bet the teacher could have saved you that whole night by putting both symbols on the board on day one.
