Showerthought: My coding teacher told me to start with Python three years ago and I think it was wrong.

Honestly, I was in a community college class in Austin and the teacher said Python was the only good first language. I tried it for a month and just got confused by how it handles types. Last week, I finally tried starting with C instead, and writing 'int main' and seeing the memory stuff actually made more sense to me. Has anyone else found a 'harder' language easier to learn first?

My buddy had the same thing happen in his intro class. He got so lost with Python's lists and how it just does things for you. He switched to Java for a semester, all those clear type rules and brackets, and it just clicked for him way better.
