Spent 3 hours in a library meeting room trying to debug code

Went to the downtown branch last Tuesday to work on my first Python project and ended up sitting next to a guy who was literally reading error messages out loud to himself. I couldn't focus and my own code just spiraled into a mess of indentation errors. Finally gave up after spilling coffee on my laptop sleeve. Does anyone else find it impossible to concentrate in those open study areas?

Yeah I've noticed the same thing in places like coffee shops and even waiting rooms. People just have no idea how distracting they are when they start mumbling or tapping their feet. It's like they think they're the only ones in the room. I've started wearing earplugs when I need to get something done, it blocks out the background noise without having to hear someone else's drama through headphones.

Saw an article about how open public spaces actually make our brains work harder because we're constantly filtering out background chatter. No wonder debugging feels impossible when someone's muttering Python errors two feet away.
