TIL my code editor's autocomplete was teaching me mistakes

Been using VS Code for about 5 months now and realized the other day it's been suggesting old deprecated functions like using 'var' when I should type 'let'. My mentor pointed it out after I showed him a script I wrote, now I'm going back through 40 files fixing them. How do you guys keep your editor from teaching you bad habits?

Editors and maps and even friends will push you toward whatever is easiest for them, not what's best for you. Same thing happens with spellcheck quietly 'fixing' words until you forget how to spell them right. Eventually you learn to question the tool instead of trusting it blindly.
