Tried both online bootcamps and a college course for Python - the bootcamp was WAY better for me

I tried a 14 week college intro to Python at a local community college and a 10 week online bootcamp from Udemy. The college course spent way too long on theory and history, like 3 weeks on what a variable even is. The bootcamp had me building a tic-tac-toe game by week 2 and I actually learned more. Has anyone else compared both and found the hands-on stuff just sticks faster?

Honestly, I feel you on this. That whole "spending 3 weeks on what a variable is" thing is just painful. I tried a similar setup and wasted so much time on history lessons when all I wanted was to actually write code that does something. The bootcamp had me building a little guess the number game in week one, and that hands on stuff really does stick way faster for me too.

Whoa, I hadn't even thought about that! The history lessons are totally a way for some courses to pad content so they can charge more for a longer program too. That guess the number game in week one sounds way more useful than staring at slides of what a transistor is.
