Warning: that coding bootcamp near me in Austin actually made me worse at debugging
I went to a 12-week bootcamp here in Austin last summer because everyone said it was the fast track to a job, but now I realize they pushed us through projects so fast I never learned how to actually fix my own broken code. I spent 4 hours yesterday stuck on a simple null pointer error because nobody ever taught me how to read a stack trace properly. Has anyone else felt like bootcamps skip the boring but important stuff just to keep the schedule moving?

You said they "never taught me how to read a stack trace properly" - was that something they just skipped entirely, or did they rush through it in like 15 minutes on a Friday afternoon? I'm asking because I've heard other bootcamp grads say the same thing about missing fundamentals like that. Just wondering if it's a pattern with these fast programs or if some of them actually take time on the boring stuff.

Yeah man, I used to defend bootcamps hard but seeing this made me totally flip on that.
