Why does nobody talk about how much cleaner your code gets after you learn version control

I spent my whole first year just saving files with weird names like finalv3_reallyfinal and then I finally sat down with Git for a weekend and now I can actually track what broke and when without guessing, has anyone else had that moment where it just clicks?
