Blew $60 on a fancy pour-over kettle, my stove kettle does the same job

I got swept up in a home barista phase last month and bought one of those gooseneck kettles with the thermometer built in. Figured it would change my morning routine forever, but honestly after my third cup I realized the flow control barely matters when I'm half asleep at 6am in Portland. My regular stove kettle with a cheap thermometer costs like 15 bucks and heats water just as fast. The only real difference is the spout shape, and I'm not doing latte art anyway. I watched like 20 videos of people swearing by the slow pour and I think that sold me more than actual taste tests. Maybe I'm missing something though, has anyone else gone back to basic kettles after dropping cash on the fancy gear?
