Blew a $60 bag of single-origin beans on a bad grind setting last week
I was at my home setup in Portland trying to dial in a washed Ethiopian from a local roaster. Got so caught up chasing this floral note that I forgot to check my burr alignment after cleaning the grinder. Pulled shot after shot that came out sour and thin, wasted almost the whole bag before I realized the burrs were sitting crooked. Fixed it by taking the grinder apart and reseating everything with a sharpie marker test on the burrs. After that the first shot tasted like blueberry and honey. Anyone else ever chase a flavor so hard you miss the obvious mechanical issue?

Did that exact same thing last month. Wasted a bag of Kenyan chasing imaginary peach notes while my grinder burrs were basically rubbing against each other.

Ngl you just described my entire October. Spent weeks blaming my water temp when it was just my burrs eating each other alive.
