Brother in law swore by french press for a year, finally caved and tried it

He kept telling me my drip machine was wasting all the good oils, so I borrowed his $30 Bodum last week and made a batch. Now I'm hooked on the richer taste, but my morning routine takes way longer. Anyone else find the cleanup is a dealbreaker or just me?

That $30 Bodum is exactly how I started too, my brother in law basically forced his on me after months of hearing about it. I mean the cleanup is a legit pain, I still dread rinsing out the grounds and trying to get that little mesh filter clean without clogging my sink. For me the dealbreaker moment was when I left it sitting for a day and came back to this nasty sludge that took forever to scrub off. But honestly, I switched back to my drip machine twice and kept going back to the french press because the bitterness difference is just that noticeable. It's one of those things where you just accept that your morning routine now includes a dedicated 30 second rinse session.

the cleanup is lowkey a dealbreaker but its one of those things where you gotta pick your battle. I feel like thats how a lot of hobbies go, you trade convenience for quality. Like my buddy got super into making sourdough and now his kitchen looks like a flour bomb went off but his bread is bomb. Its the same pattern with everything from brewing coffee to building PCs. You either commit to the extra effort or stay with the quick and easy. The richer taste from the french press is legit though, the oils make it way less bitter.
