Ditched my cheap blade grinder for a burr one and wow what a difference

I used to just buy pre-ground coffee from the grocery store for years. Then about 3 months ago I grabbed a $30 blade grinder thinking it was an upgrade. It just made a mess and my coffee tasted muddy no matter what. Finally caved and spent $100 on a basic burr grinder from a shop in Portland. Now I can dial in the grind size for my French press and the flavor is night and day clearer. Anybody else stick with bad gear way longer than they should have?

Oh man, same here. I used a busted blade grinder for two years before I wised up.

Yeah "muddy" is spot on, it's wild how we settle for junk just cause it's familiar.
