Finally switched from a blade grinder to a burr grinder last month

I used to think my $15 blade grinder was fine for making morning coffee. But the grind was always uneven, and I kept getting bitter cups that masked the bean flavor. A buddy at a local shop in Portland let me try his Baratza Encore on some Ethiopian beans. The difference was huge - clearer taste, no more sludge at the bottom of my mug. Now I can actually taste the fruit notes instead of just burnt bitterness. Has anyone else been surprised by how much a grinder upgrade changes your brew?

lol "blew my mind" over a coffee grinder? It's just morning bean juice, man I don't think it's that deep.

Went from a cheap Cuisinart blade grinder to a Wilfa Svart last year and honestly felt dumb for waiting so long. You mentioned Ethiopian beans, I tried a natural Yirgacheffe with my old grinder and it tasted like ash. After the upgrade I got blueberry and floral notes, not just bitterness. It blew my mind how much of a difference it made. Even cheap beans from the grocery store turned out way better, less sour and more balanced. The sludge at the bottom of my mug disappeared too.
