Got told my latte art looked like a blobfish at a cafe in Portland last Saturday
A barista at Heart Coffee literally laughed when I handed over my cup, so now I'm practicing 20 minutes a day with dish soap and water, anyone else ever get roasted like that?

Oh honey, dish soap and water is the only way to learn without wasting good espresso.

Three years ago I tried making a rosetta with actual cold brew and it looked like a sad potato with a missing eye, the barista just handed it back and said "maybe stick to drip." I switched to dish soap practice for exactly 12 minutes a day and now my pours look almost recognizable, though I still get the occasional blobfish comment from my cat who watches from the counter. That Portland barista probably forgot your face by now, but the muscle memory from all that practice sticks around way longer than the embarrassment.
