Had to pick between a burr grinder and a blade grinder for my morning brew
I finally swapped out my cheap blade grinder for a $40 manual burr grinder last week. The blade one always gave me uneven grounds which made my coffee taste bitter or sour depending on the day. With the burr grinder, I get consistent coarse grounds for my french press in about 90 seconds of hand cranking. Big difference - the flavor is way smoother and I don't get that burnt taste anymore. Has anyone else made that switch and noticed a big jump in quality?

Made the same switch last year. Night and day difference. My morning coffee went from hit or miss to actually good every single day. Blade grinders just beat the beans to death, burr grinders actually cut them. Never going back.

Found the same thing when I upgraded my grinder. Took me a while to justify the cost but now I kick myself for waiting so long. My coffee actually tastes consistent now instead of being a gamble every morning.
