I used to think single-origin beans were just a marketing gimmick

For like 2 years I only bought big-brand blends because I figured coffee is coffee. Then I picked up a bag of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe from a local roaster and the blueberry notes hit me so clearly I had to admit I was wrong. Anyone else have a moment where they finally got what the hype was about?

I was pretty skeptical too until I grabbed a bag of Kenyan beans on a whim last fall. The bright acidity and berry taste was so different from what I was used to that it changed my whole view on coffee. That first cup was the moment I realized the hype might be real.

Totally get that @val223, my first fancy bean experience was like realizing I'd been drinking brown water my whole life.
