My $15 thrift store grinder turned out to be a total win

I picked up an old burr grinder at a Goodwill in Portland for 15 bucks last month, not expecting much. Turns out it's a vintage model that grinds way more consistent than my cheap blade grinder I was using for two years. My morning pour overs went from bitter and muddy to actually tasting smooth and clean. I looked it up online and saw people reselling this same model for over 100 dollars. It just needed a quick clean with some rice and a brush to get the old coffee oils out. Has anyone else found a hidden gem at a thrift store that worked better than you expected?

I found a vintage Bodum French press at a thrift store for five bucks.

Beth, you lucky so-and-so. A vintage Bodum for five bucks? That's a score and a half. I'd probably have to spend that much just on the replacement carafe when I inevitably drop it on the tile floor. Hope yours still has the plunger assembly intact, because tracking those down is a whole other thrift store saga.
