My French press cracked mid-pour yesterday morning

I was making my usual 32 ounce batch around 7am and heard a loud snap when I pushed the plunger down. Glass shattered everywhere across the counter and floor, sending coffee grounds into my toaster and under my fridge. Has anyone else had a glass carafe fail on them like that or am I just unlucky?

Had a buddy who had this exact thing happen with his Bodum. He wasn't even pressing it hard, just a normal plunge and the whole thing exploded in his hands. He was still finding little glass shards in his kitchen for weeks.

Oh come on, it's just a French press. Yeah glass broke, that sucks, but people act like they survived a car crash when a carafe shatters. Sweep it up, buy a new one for 20 bucks, move on.
