Overheard a guy at the roastery say lighter roasts have more caffeine

I always thought it was the opposite, so I looked it up later. Turns out the difference is tiny based on bean density, not roast level. Anyone else been wrong about this for years?

Claire said exactly what I thought too. The weight difference is real though - dark roasts lose more water weight so a scoop has slightly less beans. But per bean the difference is basically nothing. People make way too big a deal about it.

Oh dang, so the whole "darker = more caffeine" thing is a myth too?

Isn't it true that dark roasts actually have slightly less caffeine because the beans are roasted longer?
