Switched from a $22 blade grinder to a $50 hand grinder and my mornings flipped
I used a cheap blade grinder for two years and always wondered why my pour over tasted muddy. Last month I picked up a Hario Mini Mill for $50 at a shop in Portland, and the difference in my morning cup was obvious by day three. The grounds come out even, the flavor is cleaner, and I'm not guessing anymore. Has anyone else made a small gear swap that surprisingly changed their whole routine?
I spent like three months blaming my beans for tasting like wet cardboard before I finally figured out it was my $15 blade grinder making dust and boulders in the same batch. Switched to a Timemore C2 and suddenly I could actually taste the difference between two bags I thought were identical. My wallet cried a little but my tongue threw a party lol. Now I just need to stop buying more gear and actually drink the coffee.
