Talking to my grandpa made me see instant coffee different

He was over last weekend and I made him a pour over. He said it was good but then pulled out this jar of Folgers from his bag and made a cup. I kinda laughed and asked why. He said back in the 70s he worked 16 hour shifts at a factory and that hot cup no matter how it was made kept him going. Said worrying about the method is a luxury he never had. It hit me different cause I've been stressed about grind size and water temp for months. He just wants coffee that's hot and there. Has anyone else had a family member totally skip the fancy stuff and make you rethink things?

It's like we overthink everything now because we got the time to, but he just had a job to do.

That whole era had people making snap calls with way less info than we got now. Kinda wild how we sit here with all this data and still second guess everything while they just went for it.
