TIL a cheap grinder cost me $40 and a whole bag of beans
Grabbed a no-name grinder online for $40 last month. It made my good Ethiopian beans taste like dirt. The grind was all over the place, super inconsistent. Ended up having to throw the whole bag out. Anyone know a decent budget grinder that actually works?

Been there, done that. My old grinder turned good coffee into bitter dust. Total waste. I saved up for a Baratza Encore, got it refurbished for under a hundred. The difference is night and day, my coffee actually tastes like it should now.

How long did you use the old grinder before upgrading?

My buddy used a cheap blade grinder for years, always complaining his pour-overs tasted burnt. He finally borrowed my old hand mill for a weekend and called me amazed, saying he could actually taste fruit notes in his Ethiopian beans for the first time.
