TIL skipping the rest period ruins your coffee experience

I brewed my coffee beans right after they were delivered, and the coffee tasted sour and weak. The beans needed time to release gases, but I was too impatient. Now I always wait five to seven days before using fresh roasts to get the best flavor. What's your method for timing when to brew new beans?

Is the rest period really that serious?

There's a 2015 study on NBA players that showed a clear drop in shooting accuracy on the second night of back-to-back games. That's all due to poor recovery. Your body needs that downtime to repair muscle tissue and refill energy stores. If you skip it, you're just practicing how to be tired and sloppy, not getting better. You'll also crank up your injury risk big time.

Pushed through a three day hike once without proper rest days. My form got so bad by the end I was basically stumbling down the trail. Started tripping on roots I'd normally step over, made a bunch of dumb choices with my footing. Totally proved to me that tired practice just locks in bad habits.
