Unpopular opinion: home espresso machines are a waste of money for most people
I bought a Gaggia Classic Pro 3 years ago thinking it would save me money. After adding a grinder, tamper, and all the accessories, I'm in for about $900. Last week I did the math and realized I could have bought 500 cups from my local shop for that. If you're not willing to spend at least 2 hours a week dialing in and cleaning, it's just an expensive counter ornament. Has anyone else regretted jumping into home espresso?

Expensive counter ornament" - sounds about right for my machine too.

You just made me stop and reread that because at first I thought you were joking but now I realize you're probably serious, @sagesingh. $1,200 for a tool that just sits there looking pretty? My neighbor bought one of those high end espresso machines and it broke down after three months and now it's basically a very expensive paperweight on his counter. Makes me wonder how many people bought into the hype and are now too embarrassed to admit they got scammed.
