PSA: Tossing your cold brew grounds after 12 hours is wasting good coffee
Everyone in here keeps saying you gotta strain and dump the grounds at 12 hours or it gets bitter, but a guy at the roaster on 9th Street in Denver laughed at me for that and told me to just leave the whole jar in the fridge for 20 to 24 hours. I tried it with my usual 1 cup of coarse grounds to 4 cups of water and the batch came out way smoother and sweeter than my old 12 hour jars, no bitterness at all. The trick is coarse grind and don't stir it after the first mix, since all that poking around is what pulls out the harsh stuff. Been doing 22 hours for a solid month now and I'm never going back. Anyone else here brew way past the 12 hour mark, or am I the odd one out?
