Found a 1970s road map of Michigan at a yard sale for a buck that shows a town called "Nirvana" that doesn't exist
I grabbed a stack of old maps at a yard sale in Grand Rapids last Saturday, paid $4 for six of them. This one from 1974 shows a town called Nirvana sitting right between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. I checked every atlas and database I have and there is nothing there, no post office, no old plat, nothing. Now here's my debate. One side says it's just a printing goof or a joke the map maker slipped in. The other side says small towns vanish all the time and nobody bothered to write it down before the map went out. I want to hear which way you all lean on stuff like this. Do you chalk phantom towns up to pranks, or do you dig for proof somebody actually lived there? Tell me your best find like this and how you decided.
