Found a hand-drawn map of a fake island in a thrift store in Tucson
I was digging through a bin of old books at a Goodwill last weekend and a rolled up piece of paper fell out. When I unrolled it, it was this detailed map of an island called “Sulbrae” with weird place names like “Whistler’s Grotto” and “The Forked Path.” There’s a date on it from 1992 and a signature that just says “M.K.” I couldn’t find any info about it online or in any atlas. It seems like someone just made up this whole island for fun or maybe a story. It’s got little drawings of sea monsters and a compass rose that looks like a dandelion. Has anyone else ever stumbled on a fake map that felt too personal to just throw away?

That Vegas thrift shop thing is wild. I mean, my cousin scored an old 1950s radio once from a random shop in Reno that still had the original tubes in it. Idk, the luck some people have with those places is kind of amazing.
