Found a map of a town that doesn't exist on Google Maps anymore

I was digging through an old atlas from 1967 I picked up at a thrift store in Portland last weekend and found this tiny town called 'Crestwood' marked in Oregon that I've never heard of. I spent 2 hours cross-referencing with current maps and it's just gone, like it never existed. Turns out it was a logging camp that got abandoned in the 70s and most old maps just dropped it after that. Has anyone else stumbled across a town that only lives on in old atlases now?

Wait, are you sure it was a logging camp? I grew up near that area and I always heard Crestwood was more of a railroad maintenance stop for the old Oregon & Northwestern line. My dad used to tell me stories about how they'd stop there to refuel the steam engines. The logging companies did move in later though, around the late 60s, but by then the town was already shrinking because the railroad rerouted. It's crazy how places just vanish like that though. I actually found a similar thing with a place called "Glencoe" near my folks' property, it's just a wide spot in the road now with one old foundation left. Have you checked the county historical society's records? They usually have the real story on these ghost towns, not just what the map makers decided to keep or drop.

Actually, the Oregon & Northwestern steam engines ran on diesel by the late 50s, not coal or wood.
