Hot take: I was a vintage map snob until I found a digital one that blew me away

I always thought physical paper maps were the only real maps, and anything digital was just fake or lazy. Then last month I stumbled on an old 1500s map of the Americas that someone had scanned in super high res. The detail on it was insane, you could see where they drew sea monsters and all these little notes. Now I'm kinda torn between sticking with my paper collection or going for more scans. Anyone else change their mind about digital maps after seeing one done right?

Wait, the sea monsters were visible at full resolution? That's wild. I had no idea they put that level of detail into the scans... like you could zoom in and see the little ink strokes and everything. Paper maps are still special but that sounds pretty incredible.
