Picked up a 1920s map of a town that never existed and it messed with my head

Ngl I bought this old tourist map of a place called 'Lakewood' in Montana off eBay for 15 bucks. looked up the coordinates and there's nothing there but a dried up creek bed and some rocks. Turns out some real estate guy in the 20s made it up to sell fake lots to suckers. Honestly it made me wonder how many other maps out there are just total lies.

Did you ever try to figure out who actually bought those lots back then... I mean there had to be at least a few people who showed up with a suitcase full of cash? It's kind of wild to think some family might have actually moved out there expecting a whole town and found nothing but dirt and disappointment.
