Traded my vintage globe collection for a stack of fake island maps

I used to only collect real antique globes, thinking anything fake wasn't worth my shelf space. Then a guy at a flea market in Portland offered me a trade: 5 globes for his box of hand-drawn maps, all of made up islands from the 1800s. The detail on one called "Bermeja" is so weird, it's clearly a fantasy but someone spent weeks on it. Now I'm hooked on this stuff because the stories behind fake maps are often more interesting than real ones. Anyone else make the switch from genuine antiques to the bizarre fictional stuff?
