Appreciation post: that random fact about Batman's first appearance selling for over a million dollars
I was down a rabbit hole on Wikipedia at 2 AM after my shift and found out Detective Comics #27 originally cost ten cents back in 1939 and now a mint copy goes for like $1.5 million at auction, can anyone else believe how crazy comic book collecting has gotten?

Have you ever pulled out an old comic from your childhood and wondered if it was worth anything? I had a similar moment digging through my uncle's attic and found a stack of old X-Men issues from the 80s... nothing as insane as that Detective Comics though. My uncle swore he had a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 somewhere but it turned out to be a reprint, which was a bummer. Still, it got me hooked on checking prices online and now I'm always second-guessing every old comic I come across.

What's the most expensive thing you've come across online that turned out to be a dud in person?
