Can we talk about how long it took me to stop bagging comics wrong?

I used to put my floppies in those cheap poly bags with the flap facing out, thinking it looked cleaner. After 6 months my roommate pointed out the flap traps dust against the cover and now I flip them all inward. Has anyone else had a comic storage habit that made you feel dumb when you figured it out?

Did you actually go back and inspect any of the flap-out bags for dust scratches or was it more of a preventative paranoia thing? I'm trying to figure out if the dust trapped against the cover actually leaves visible damage over time or if we're all just being neurotic about it. Because I've definitely got a stack of bags I'd have to re-bag if the difference is real.

Wait, so the flap being inward actually traps less dust or is it just more hidden? I always put mine flap side up because I thought it made them easier to pull out of the long box. Maybe I've been doing it wrong for years and never even noticed lol. Its funny how something as simple as bagging comics can have so many unwritten rules nobody tells you about until someone points it out. Did you check if any of your older bags had actual dust damage or were you just being extra careful?
