Found a $3 comic book pressing trick that beats a $100 dry mount press
I flattened a warped Silver Age issue by putting it between two sheets of acid-free foam core under a stack of phone books for 72 hours and the spine lay completely flat after, has anyone else tried heavy books as a cheap press alternative?

Ngl I tried this exact same thing with an old Incredible Hulk #340 that had a nasty spine roll. Stacked four old textbooks on top of the foam core sandwich and left it for a week. It flattened out way better than I expected, no dish facing or anything weird. Honestly, for a $3 fix it saved me from buying a press I barely need.

Oh jeez, I'd be careful calling it a flat fix though. That phone book trick can take the curve out but it won't actually fix the internal stress in the paper so the spine roll might come back after a few weeks in a bag. I learned that the hard way when a book I thought was perfect ended up warped again two months later lol.
