Found a crazy stat about DC reboot sales numbers

I was reading through some old Wizard magazines I picked up at a garage sale last weekend. Found this article from 2011 that said DC's New 52 #1s sold over 200,000 copies on average but within 6 months most titles dropped below 50,000. That's a 75% drop rate and I had no idea it was that steep. Did anyone else stick with those early New 52 runs or did you bail after a few issues?

I stuck with Animal Man all the way through to the end of the run, Buddy Baker's whole deal got so weird and dark. Swamp Thing fell off for me after the Rotworld storyline wrapped up though, it just got too tangled up with the other DC events. If you haven't read them yet, grab the first two trades for each and stop there, because the quality takes a nosedive after that.

You ever hear that DC actually cut the print runs early on purpose to make the numbers look bigger than they really were? I remember some industry blogger breaking that down a few years back, claiming they shipped way more copies than stores could actually sell and then counted the unsold ones as "sales." No wonder the drop was so brutal once the hype died down and stores had to eat the overstock. I bailed on most of my New 52 pulls by issue 4 or 5, they felt rushed and the whole shared universe thing got exhausting. Batman was the only one I kept going with for a while but even that lost me after the Year One stuff ended.
