Had to pick between two longbox collections at a garage sale yesterday

I found a guy in Portland selling two big comic collections for $50 each. One was full of early 90s X-Men runs, the other had a mix of Bronze Age horror like Swamp Thing and Tomb of Dracula. I went with the horror stuff because I'm tired of overpriced mutant books. So far I've found 12 issues in really good shape and a few with ads for old horror movies that are fun to read.

Horror comics from that era are way more fun to hunt for anyway. People sleep on the Bronze Age stuff because it's not as flashy as the X-Men hype, but those old Swamp Thing issues have some of the best cover art ever. I've been grabbing any Tomb of Dracula I can find lately, the writing is cheesy but in a good way. The movie ads in those books are a bonus too, gives you a peek at what theaters were showing back then. $50 for that mix sounds like a steal, especially if some of them are in decent shape.

@sage52 nailed it, horror books don't make you feel like you need a second mortgage.
