I thought the new 'Batman: The Animated Series' comic was just a cash grab
I saw the first issue at my local shop, Gotham Comics, and almost passed because the show ended years ago. But the story by Paul Dini picks up right where the show left off, and the art is spot on. It actually feels like a lost episode, which totally won me over. Has anyone else been surprised by a comic they thought would be bad?

Wait, you found it at a place called Gotham Comics? That's too perfect, are you serious? Honestly, I wrote that whole thing off as a quick money grab too. Tbh, if Dini is writing it and the art matches, I might have to go look for it. Ngl, you've got me second guessing my whole take now.

Yeah, the "quick money grab" thing is what got me too. But I keep wondering if maybe that's the point, you know? Like they knew we'd all think that, so they had to actually make it good to get past our guard. It's sneaky.

Right, robert_bennett, I get that. I almost passed on it too until I flipped through a few pages. The art really does feel like the old show, and Dini's writing has that same smart, fun tone. What worked for me was just reading the first few panels in the shop. It changed my mind completely from thinking it was just a cash grab. You should totally check it out if you see a copy.
