My brother told me to skip the big two for a year

He said, 'Just read Image and Dark Horse for twelve months, trust me.' I did it, and found books like 'Saga' and 'Black Hammer' that I love now. It really broke me out of only following Marvel and DC events. Has anyone else tried a publisher switch that worked for them?

Is it really that big of a deal to only read from one place? I get liking new stuff, but it's just comics. You can read whatever you want, it's not a life changing choice. I flip between publishers all the time and it's fine. It feels like people make a whole thing out of it when it's just picking up a different book.

Yeah, it's like getting stuck in a food rut and only eating from the same two restaurants. You don't realize how much you're missing until you try a different spot and find a new favorite dish. I see this with TV streaming too, people will just cycle through the same Netflix shows forever unless someone pushes them to try a different service.

Honestly, my pull list was so deep in Marvel that I missed the first three volumes of Saga. Tbh, I felt like a real goof when I finally read it and realized what I'd been doing to myself. It's like I was only watching superhero movies and called myself a film buff.
