That talk with a new collector at the shop changed how I see my old longboxes

I was at my local shop flipping through some 90s issues and this kid asked why I keep buying comics if they're worth nothing now. It made me realize I was treating my collection like an investment instead of just enjoying the stories.

Man, I gotta disagree hard here. If that kid's logic made you change your whole approach, you might be missing the point that some of those 90s books are actually climbing again. Just checked my copy of New Mutants 98 raw last week and it's sitting at like 60 bucks not even graded. Telling yourself they're "worth nothing now" is how you sell your whole longbox for 20 bucks on Offerup only to watch the guy flip a New Warriors 1 for 150 two days later. Enjoy the stories sure but don't pretend the market isn't still real for the right keys.
